Research Institute “Mathematical Modeling and Intelligent Control Systems” (RI MMICS) carries out fundamental and applied research in the field of mathematic modeling and control over compound physical entities, processes and phenomena.

Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics

Areas of scientific activity:
  • Supercomputer-based mathematic modeling for solving the problems of mechanics and physics, including:

• Problems of aerohydrodynamics.

• Interdisciplinary problems of computational mechanics, problems of hydro- and aeroelasticity.

• Specifi c problems of physics and combustion actions.

• Problems of mechanics of rigid and deformable bodies.

  • Solving the applied problems of engineering analysis and design on the basis of the mentioned directions for the benefi t of the wide range of industrial applications.
Main technologies applied in the Laboratory: 
  • Mathematic modeling. 
  • Technologies for solving the wide range of initial and boundary value problems of mathematical physics, including the interdisciplinary problems. 
  • Supercomputers implementation.
  • Application of modern multiprocessor program complexes (levels ANSYS FLUENT and ANSYS CFX) and own software development.

  • Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering “Rubin”;
  • Institute of Program Systems (IPS) of the Russian Academy of Sciences;

  • ANSYS (Russian division of the Close Corporation “KADFEM CIS”);

Laboratory’s equipment:
  • The range of 5 high-performance computing clusters with the capacity of 0,4 - 3,7 TFLOPS.
  • The range of multiprocessor software for the problems of computational mechanics and physics, developed mainly by ANSYS company
Applied developments and projects:
  • Solving the problems of the engineering analysis and design (applied developments), carrying out activity within the government programs.
  • Hydroturbine building activity jointly with the ”LMZ” Public Corporation.
  • Power machines on oil and gas production platforms dynamics behavior jointly with the Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering ”Rubin”, the foreign companies Airbus, FMC, General Motors and others on the problems of design-theoretical support for the wide range of constructions.
  • Activity on supercomputers and application software development within participation in the Byelorussian-Russian government programs Skif (Skif-Grid) and Triada.
