Research Institute of Materials and Technologies (RI MT) was established in 2007 in accordance with the plan of strategic development of the University for solving complex scientific and engineering tasks through interdisciplinary polytechnic approach.

Russian-Chinese Research Laboratory “Functional materials”

Areas of scientific activity:

  • carrying out research activities for developing advanced cathode and anode materials for lithium-ion polymeric cells;
  • production of nanostructured coatings by means of gas-phase and mechanochemical synthesis tecniques, as well as by using the “PICOSUN” plant;
  • production of nanostructured powder materials by means of low- and high-temperature mechanochemical synthesis methods;
  • investigation of mechanical doping processes;
  • investigation of sps- and vacuum-compression sintering processes.

Scientific research and experiments carried out:

  • investigation of physical and chemical nanostructured power materials production processes based on transition metals oxides;
  • production of high-effective lithium-ion polymeric cells based on nanocomposite materials made of raw vegetable material;
  • production and processing of advanced high-nitrogenous alloys and functional powder materials;
  • production and adjustment of advanced cryogenic nitrogen-bearing powder austenite steels with nanocrystalline structure.

Equipment: laboratorial tests and research activities for the third-party companies.

Research results: production of the new-generation lithium-ion polymer batteries and batteries-based energy storage systems.

Fields of implementation for the Laboratory’s development products:

  • production of energy storage systems on the basis of new-generation lithium-ion polymer batteries;
  • production of high-duty details for the LNG gas tank ships.
