Laboratory of Rapid Prototyping

Areas of activity:

Technologies of layer-by-layer sintering of physical entities on the 3D mathematical models

Laboratory’s equipment:

Description

Technical parameters

Prototyping machine iPro 9000 (3DSystems, USA)

Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA – Stereolithography Apparatus) for producing the articles of photopolymer compositions with the layer-by-layer sintering method by means of laser curing. Operating area for prototyping 400õ700õ550 mm. Pitch 0,05-0,1 mm. Prototyping materials – epoxy photopolymers.

Prorotyping Machine SinterstationHQ (3DSystems, USA)

SLS-Machine (SelectiveLaserSintering) for layer-by-layer laser sintering of powder materials. Operating area for prototyping 340õ280õ440 mm, Pitch 0,1-0,2 mm. Prototyping materials – polyamide, polystyrene, metal and powder compositions.

3D-printer ObjetEden 250 (Israel)

3D-printer for layer-by-layer models sintering using photopolymers. Operating area for prototyping 250õ190õ200 mm. Pitch 0,016 mm.

Laboratory’s main objectives:

  • adoption of technologies for producing the sintering models for casting of high-complexity articles on the smelted and consumable patterns using construction steel and non-ferrous alloys
  • adoption of Quick-Cast technologies – growing of consumable casting stereolithography sintering patterns for articles casting
  • research and development of algorithms for smelting the casting patterns under the thermal treatment of moulds
  • working out criteria and carrying out research on selection of molding materials for casting on the smelted and consumable patterns
  • optimization of the master models production processes using the digital technologies for the polyurethane compositions casting into elastic silicon molds in vacuum

Fields of implementation for the Laboratory’s research results: instrument engineering, aircraft and automobile industry, general engineering.

Possibilities for commercial use:

  • Diversification of pattern materials nomenclature for producing the functional patterns, casting patterns and sintering molds; rendering services in the field of rapid prototyping and functional modeling.
  • Engineering consulting in the field of creating the production strings for the end-to-end digital engineering (CAD-CAM-CAE) and production of prototypes, one-off and small-scale high complexity articles.
